In the early of this year. Zambia's copper and cobalt miner-Mopani just annouced that they invest about $300 million in a new mine shaft, and it is able to produce 200,000 tons of cooper a year currently, which is the second largest in Zambia.
According to the latest news, Mopani is upgrading its ageing Mufulira copper smelter according to the machinery required for the project.The new convert costs over $25 millions, it is able to reduce sulfur emissions, which helps to meet goal of reducing sulfur emission by
97% in the next few years,
The whole machine installation will be complated by the end of this year, and they also set to install an acid plant at the smelter.
